Oh Holy Night

I like this popping in thing. Hello:)
This really moved me today (I’m married to him, so yes, a little biased). It was recorded before Nicol left Selah to go into full time ministry with her husband. This is from the Christmas CD released a few weeks before Abby and Ellie were born.
Who could have known what this Christmas would look like…only the Lord Himself…
(remember to pause the music first:))

I don’t know the person who put this video together, but it is beautiful. Thank you~
Blessings,
Angie

    Hi Angie,

I’ve been reading your blog for a month or so now, but have never commented. I spent some time exploring your story and several of your posts and laughed and cried along the way. I didn’t know your husband was part of Selah, but I was actually just listening to some of their music Monday evening. I love it! Anyways, I just wanted to pop out of the lurking mode and say hi and Merry Christmas!

  • Hailey

Absolutely moving and beautiful. I can’t stop listening to it.

  • Kelli

Wow, my favorite version of my favorite Christmas song. Selah is such a blessing. When so many Christian bands are out performing songs that are not so Christian, Selah really stands out with powerful lyrics and tremendous talent.

  • TressaMOMof3

That is beautiful! Oh Holy Night is my favorite Christmas song. I have been listening to it for about a month or so.

    What a great video!
I actually woke up to this song on the radio this morning. What are the chances!
We are so blessed that our Savior left His Father’s side to come to earth.
I think we often reflect on the sacrifice that the cross was, forgetting that His whole life was a sacrifice, to come to a sinful world, and leave the side of God Almighty.
Sorry about that rant. Thanks for sharing!

That was a beautiful version of the song, I am always looking for new versions I like, I am adding that one to my list. I hope you have a blessed christmas this year. Our prayers are with you.

Please pray for my daughter, tomorrow she goes in for her 3rd open heart surgery, and it looks like we will be spending christmas in the hospital. But, it doesn’t matter where you are, but who you are with on Christmas. If you want to know more about my little girl, the blog I am tryping from is hers.

God Bless you and your family

Thought this might make you smile … I was reading another blog this afternoon, and the blogger asked who we would nominate for the most important person of 2008. As I was reading through some of the comments, I came across this …

“Angie Smith- someone I admire daily because of what she and her family went through this last year and the positive message that they were able to generate from what most of us would have caved in from. I pray every day to have one ounce of what she does in terms of drive and determination.”

Just wanted to share. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas season!

  • The Timbs Clan

Hi Angie I just started following your blog and I wanted to say thank you for posting that video! O Holy night has been my favorite Christmas song since I was a little girl for some reason that song has always moved me. John Berry a country singer did this song years ago and his version was my favorite UNTIL today. Now Selah holds the title for my favorite version I even went to my MYSPACE page and added the song to my page!
So thank you again and Have a Very MERRY CHRISTMAS

That is beautiful :) It must be so amazing having a musician in the house during holidays. So special getting to hear that beautiful music.

I wanted to tell you that my kids have also pulled kitchen tricks on me when I was distracted. The tv repair guy came about 2 weeks ago and while I was trying to talk to him, I heard the toaster clicking. I went in the kitchen and my 2 year old had a step stool up to the counter and was trying to make toast. I got him out of that and when the guy finally left, I went back in the kitchen and the whole carton of eggs was broken all over the floor. You take your eyes off of them for any amount of time and they get into everything :)

  • Holly

That is our favorite Christmas CD and we have been listening to that song a lot lately. :~)

    Merry Christmas!

I like this dropping in, too! I love your long posts, but maybe this new kind of posting from you may be good for us all. Just little snippets. Amazing song and video. Thanks for posting it. I need to go pray now…

  • Chandra

I’ve been reading your blog for a long time and I love it!!

I have to say I’m pretty partial to Selah as well. When my husband and I gave our lives over to Jesus we spent a lot of time listening to their songs. Their songs have moved us so much over the last 4 years. Early on we found the Holy Spirit moving us through their words.

  • erikmelissa

Thank you. Her voice is so beautiful…

  • Julie

Beautiful, I really have never heard much Selah. I must go out and buy this album. I actually first heard of Selah through my friend Candace who met you while speaking on a Girl’s getaway cruise.

Ok. That settles it. As soon as my friend Jenny gives me the gift card she gets me every Christmas I’m buying some Selah CDs. I miss singing so much and hearing them gives me the same feeling as when I used to sing. Except, you know, they’re better :)

  • Rebekah Walker

I know hate to trouble you with this but I can not figure out how to put it on my blog…

    I will keep trying.

  • Targetshopper:

very beautiful! I love Selah’s Christmas music and listen to it all year long. Really! My husband even asked me once why we had Christmas music on in July. It’s just beautiful music!

Btw, an Elf joined our home today. His name is Kringle and the kids are SO excited! Thanks for the idea!!

  • Brittanie

That was just beautiful. That is my favorite favorite Christmas carol, and so beautifully sung (and the video was beautifully done too). Thank you so much for sharing that.

On a side note, I actually listened to your playlist for the first time today (I usually have my own music playing), and today was the first time I have ever heard Glory Baby. I cried and cried (in a good way of course). Thank you so much for adding that song. I thought I had run out of new “Cora songs.” I guess that proves I was mistaken.

Crying here! Like so many others O Holy Night has been my favorite Christmas hymn since I was a child. I remember hearing it first recorded by Tennessee Ernie Ford from the late 50s.

This version and video are truly moving!

    Thank you.

    Angie~

I’m popping in too! I’ve not commented in awhile, but I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for posting this video and let you know it deeply ministered to me today.

God has been revealing more and more that this is not my home, and that the only reason I am still here is to share His love with “the least of these.” This touched my heart and reminded me of that fact again.

Now I’m convinced I need to add another Christmas album to my already bulging collection. What a treasure!

  • Mary Helen

That was beautiful!!! I like your popping in, too :)

Hi Angie, I just stumpled onto your blog and read Audrey’s story. I must say that i have never cried for someone i dont even know, but your story had me moved to tears. I will definately add your family to my list of prayers. You are such an inspiration and God Bless you!

Like Mallory, I have been reading your blog for the last few weeks, and I feel like I have known you forever. Thank you for sharing your heart and soul with all of us, and changing so many lives as well. May God continue to bless you as you speak and share with us!

  • Inkling

I just got back from crossing the border into Washington to pick up a few fun packages in my post office box. In one of the packages was the Rose of Bethlehem CD. I opened it and the baby in my womb danced and I worshiped as we waited to cross back into Canada in a long border line. It is a beautiful CD, and I’m so glad you mentioned it on your blog. It doesn’t feel like Christmas this year, and there are so many emotions inside of me. The music at least points me back to Jesus, and that’s what I need right now. Thank you.

  • Kristina

    Wow, that was amazing!

  • Holly

Beautiful! I ordered three CDs from amazon the other night after your post about the time your girls were in the hospital…. they have all come in and are wonderful! I have been playing the Christmas CD at school and my kids are now singing along.
I hope everything works out as you make decisions about your girls’ education. I would love to teach my children, but recognize how God has orchestrated people into their lives because I allowed their help. I went back to work when they were only 9 weeks old and left them in the hands of a precious sitter– now like family. That, in turn, allowed me to teach children that needed me. I have always felt a divine appointment with my kids. I love what I do and consider it a ministry!
I know God will guide your steps!
As always, I love your posts….short or long!

  • Stacy D

Absolutely beautiful… my most favorite Christmas song…

    Hope you are well, friend.

  • Kaylee

Just wanted to tell you that, in my own grief, I have been blessed by your blog. I am blessed by this post just as much as any other. Today is a significant day in my grief, and a perfect day to hear that song and see that video. Such wonderful perspective about what life is all about!
Thank you for all your sharing that has helped me heal along the way….

  • bri

    That was BEAUTIFUL!

  • Nick and Allison

Angie…I can only imagine that your house is always filled with beautiful music, if that be the girls playing, you blogging, or Todd singing.
You have been such a blessing in my life.
    Thank you!

  • Hope

Angie, I can’t tell you how many, many times your words have blessed me, and I discovered Selah through your site (and it turns out to be one of my friend’s TOP FAVORITE groups–and I never knew that till I “learned to know” you!) Anyway, so many of the songs Selah sings have been blessing me so much the last couple of months. We are praying about adopting again–a special needs child . . . but we need to see some specific answers to prayers about some financial issues first . . . . so that’s my prayer request if you don’t mind helping us pray for the sweet little girl who needs a Mommy and Daddy, and for us to know what God wants for us as a family . . .

Hugs and blessings to you, my dearest Angie!

  • Lynn

Oh my! VERY stirring scenes in that video… it was very well done. Thank you for popping in to share it with us! :)

  • Holly Mabry

I wonder if Selah will make another Christmas album anytime soon? I love this one. My favorite song is probably O Come O Come Emmanuel, followed closely by Once Upon a Christmas. The others are awesome as well. So much depth to them.

“Oh Holy Night” has been my favorite Christmas song since I was young. I always looked forward to our Christmas Eve service when our preachers wife, Ellen, would sing it. Literally, tears would stream down my face at such a beautiful song and voice. Thank you for introducing me to Selah’s version. I have to get this CD. I love, love, love the Rose of Bethlehem. Beautiful.

Merry Christmas, Angie to you and your family! Praying that you will feel comfort, peace and joy!

    Angie:

First I would like to say Thank You for answering my email the other day. I was really very surprised. I will try and tell Todd hello at the concert in Denton on the 14th.

Secondly, I wanted to tell you I noticed last night by way of my daughters blog(she has you linked so it shows when you do an update)
    http://www.mytwolittledivas.blogspot.com
and I came over and listened to the video. Well I felt like God sent me to listen, my middle daughter, who had a baby 2 weeks ago found out her baby has a heart murmuryesterday. They had a pedi-cardio appt. today, which Thank You God turned out that the murmur should correct itself! I had been laying awake until 2:30am scared, afraid and feeling hopeless and I listened to that song and all of a sudden I could see the chaos in the masterpiece! I felt so at peace after listening and I knew that it was truly in Gods hands and I had to TRUST. I turned my computer off and actually went to sleep with such a sense of calmness.

Thank you for posting that, I do think you have a purpose in what you say and do! You made a big difference for me last night…someone hundreds of miles away, who you don’t really know. You gave me comfort by way of a blog post with a video and it made a big difference for me. God is great and he speaks through you time and time again.

    Gorgeous.
Always been my favorite Christmas song and too many singers tend to butcher it.
This tops the charts now as my favorite version of O Holy Night EVER!

I just bought the Selah collection on Amazon last night – plus the Rose of Bethlehem – and a copy of Hiding Place for my brother. (see what kind of generous I am? – more for me)

Again… watching some youtube videos of Selah to make sure I would enjoy each album – I envy you… your hubby is hunky and incredibly talented. Care to clone him?
He may be the last good one God made!

    Hi Angie!

I have been a blog lurker for a while now but have never commented. I am writing to ask if you could email me some (or all) of the CD/album titles for Selah. I have been looking for some new Christian music and after listening to the song you posted I am hooked!!! Thanks!!!!

Everytime I hear Todd & Nicol singing together (I have 15 CDs of "favorites" that are random songs…mostly praise/worship that I listen to ALL the time!) I think, and have even said to my husband, "I hope that we have kids that can sing like this and harmonize so beautifully." I ALWAYS sing/belt it out in the car and I hope that I have kids that can sing and WILL sing out, beautiful or not, praises to God!!! But, I do hope and pray that they can sing like Todd & Nicol…can you imagine those car rides?!?!

  • Penny

Hi Angie! It is so funny to me how you have posted every day since you went on your break!I LOVE it though!See,you don’t have to feel pressured to always write those deep, spiritual posts.I love those posts but even more I just love hearing from you.Because now that I have met you in person and squeezed your neck,I really think of you like one of my close friends and this is my only connection to you.So keep popping in!I love to follow you on Twitter too. That picture of you with Carlton cracked me up!I so would have been tempted to ask him to do “the dance”.Or I would have just done it myself. The video was so great.I always cry when I hear Todd and Nicol sing O Holy Night. How can you not?I am going to actually have to replace my Rose of Bethlehem cd.I have worn it out by playing it so much for the past 6 Christmas’s.One of my favorite songs Mystery skips all over the place! My husband always sings this song during the Christmas Eve service at church.Gives me chills everytime. He has a beautiful voice like your Todd.Okay this comment is crazy, out of control long so I am done now.Love you sister!Tasha in Indiana
