BLOOM BOOK #4!!!!!

We are so excited to introduce the fall book selection for Bloom.

You can find Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in Our Busy Lives on Amazon. As we mentioned in the video, your purchases from Amazon will help fund the shipping expenses for books to those not able to purchase a copy.
Also, remember that quantities may be limited, so order soon! You should also be able to find the book at local book stores, used book stores, and at the library.
Schedule
We will post a video discussing one section of the book each Sunday starting on October 17. That should give you enough time to get the book and read the first section.
The schedule is as follows:
October 17: Rest
October 24: Rhythm
October 31: Time
November 7: Happiness
November 14: Wisdom
November 21: Consecration and A Sabbath Day
Community
We are excited to have started a BlogFrog community so that we can easily get to know one another and discuss the book. Just click here to join!
Please also “like” The Bloom Book Club on Facebook so you are alerted when we post new content on this blog.
Books for Those in Need
Part of the ministry of Bloom is to provide books to people who are unable to purchase one for themselves. We do this in two ways:
  1. Bantam Books donated 100 copies of Sabbath for us to give to people in need (Thank you Bantam)
  2. Other Bloom participants volunteer to buy an extra book and send one (or two or 10!) to others
Tomorrow (Monday) we will post a form for people to fill out IF YOU CAN SEND A BOOK TO SOMEONE IN NEED. This form will be up for two days.
On Wednesday, we will post a form for people to fill out IF YOU CAN’T AFFORD A BOOK. This will be up until all books available are requested. We will then send donors the addresses of the people who need books.
We are soooooo excited to read Sabbath together. It has been a life changing book for us both.
Be sure to check in next Sunday because we will have a special post up from Sabbath author, Wayne Muller!
Now go buy Sabbath!
Love,
Angie and Jess

    Angie and Jess,
I wold love to be a part of a community of people that would help direct me back to God’s goodness and HOPE. I am in a very difficult place, right now. The introduction to Pete Wilson’s book “Plan B” resonated with me. If you ever did a study on this book, I will be there in a heartbeat and will gladly sign up asking for help in purchasing this book. Regarding the book “Sabbath”, I don’t feel like I am in a place to afford rest, rhythm, time happiness… My lot is a dark place right now. I feel guilty taking someone else’s money, when I feel like I should be able to fund my own rest, rhythm, time, etc. I just wanted to share. I hope to find community in the discussions…. Thank you for sharing your heart with us.

In regards to the nasty comments…all I can say is that I will pray for this lost soul! What an awful life they must live to have to degrade and torment innocent people! What a shame!!

SO this is my 1st book reading with you girls and I’m super duper excited!!! I do have a question and not sure if you can answer it Angie or anyone reading this who maybe encountered the same issue. I went to my local library and there is a hardcover book called “Sabbath” by the same author. I compared the table of contents of the softcover book your showing with mine and it’s all the same. I even did a “suprise me” where they take you to a part in the book to read a couple pages and it all was the same as mine. I think your book was updated in september of ’00 and mine is from ’99. Not wanting to miss out on a single detail of the current book your reading but would LOVE to say the $$ if I could read this hardcover and it be the same book. ANYONE who could help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    • Jessica Turner

I would think it would be the same or close enough :)

    Angie & Jess,
I’ve ordered my book on Amazon.uk and look forward to being part of the book group from bonnie Scotland. Keeping the Sabbath is something very much a part of the Christian community up here in the highlands. I am interested to read about Wayne Muller’s perspective on the Sabbath, to see what your ideas about the Sabbath are in contemporary Christian circles in America compared to what the understanding of Sabbath is here in Scotland. There may be similarities or vast differences. Thanks for doing an online book group as it means many of us girls worldwide can participate.

P.S. Angie I also just ordered your book to read as well. I recently miscarried my first baby and thought that reading your own journey with Audrey might help me as I process my own loss. Thank you for writing. I’m really looking forward to reading your story. Bless you heaps!

So sorry for the loss of your baby. I hope Angie’s book helps you.

Just seeing someone type the words “Bonnie Scotland” made me miss your country. I am half-Scottish/half-American and lived in that beautiful country for a few years. I love the highlands and hope to get back for a visit very soon. I would be interested to know if there is a difference between American and Scottish views on the Sabbath.

Do you think there is anyway you can talk to the publisher about making this book available for the Kindle? I don’t know what that process entails but I’m sure many people would like to purchase the book that way.

    • Jessica Turner

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Sorry!

Will you be posting the form to request a free book on the BlogFrog site? I don’t do Facebook, but would really appreciate being able to participate in Bloom. Sabbath sounds like a wonderful book.

Hello Angie, my name is Devona and on Oct 5th 2010, I went into labor with our daughter Ella Grace. She was 12 weeks early, my water had broke and there was no fluid to keep her safe. She weighted in at 2 lbs 9 ozs and 15 1/2 inches long. I was not having any problems at all during my pregancy. She was on oxygen for 5 days while I was in the hospital. I had starting running a really high fever and they ran tests to find out the reason. Comes to find out that a bacteria was the cause, and the worse was Ella Grace had it too. I was realesed on Oct 10 and got to see my precious baby. I sang to her and touched her. She was running fever that day and one thing led to another and she went down. Ella Grace died on Oct 10th, that night. My whole family was there, we got to hold her and love on her. Our whole family and close friends were there to hold her and give her to God. I feel so blessed to have had her for 5 short days. And she waited on her mommy to see her again. With God and our family and friends we are taking it a day at a time. We played I Will Carry You at her funeral. That song will always hold a special place in my heart., and it has got me through some tuff times. You are so strong and I hope I can be that strong. Your story has helped me so much. My husband and I can’t wait till the day we see her again, my husband said he gave her hand to the greatest man ever. thank you again.

Your comment is totally disgusting. You can disagree politely with Angie with anything that she says on her blog but to say such horrible things about her baby…that is beyond terrible. You should be ashamed of yourself. How people treat other people these days (even those we do not know) is downright sad. You might be behind a computer screen so no one knows who you really are…but someone out there knows your heart and is saddened by it.

  • kat

    you need some serious help.

  • Megs

Where did you come from? Why are you being so hateful to someone that does nothing but help people. WOW! Everyone is entitled to their opinion but most people have class and keep the stupid comments to themselves. Please be mindful of the people that visit this blog and the blog writer I can’t say much more except even though you are being hateful you are still being prayed for!

  • megs

I agree. Its just sad! Who knows they may just be hurting and looking for someone to lash out on BUT THIS IS TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR. I wish someone else could remove the comments before Angie had to see them. Just sad!

I did email Jessica Turner to ask if she could at all delete these comments before Angie saw them… and she graciously said they were deleted…. but we are still seeing them here?I will contact Jessica to see why we are still seeing these comments? My heart is just shattered this morning with all of this… ~tears~But greater is He who is in us than He who is in the world…

Thank you for the community of humble, praying women here…

This person also wrote a comment on the post called “A few people I love”….it is the first comment. It needs to be deleted.

  • Megs

I did also. Great minds think alike. I didn’t want Angie seeing these either

  • Anonymous

I was going to reply to this message earlier but everytime I wrote something, I deleted it. Sometimes I feel responding to people with such ill-will, only gives them what they want….a rise out of people who read what Angie writes and are inspired. On the other hand, in this case, I think the person is very troubled and maybe just experienced a loss of their own and can only deal with it by hurting others. Whatever the reason, I hope they get help.

    :) Thanks, Megs!
