Quick Update: All is Well

Angie asked me to post a quick update since she will be out for a few hours.

Thank you for praying for Ellie.

Everything is good!

She had five bumps in a row in her lymphnodes and it looks like it is a reaction – possibly to a cat the girls have befriended.

The doctor did some blood tests to rule out lymphoma and the tests came back normal.

Blessings to you,
Jess

    Good news!
When I was little I had cat scratch fever resulting in several marble size lumps on my neck. After a round of antibiotics they were gone.
That being said, when I saw a lump on my 4 year old’s rib cage I felt that same panic! We visited the pediatrician who also did the bloodwork for lymphoma .. something I never expected to be dealing with! I was very excited when all the bloodwork came back fine. She did not have cat scratch fever, we aren’t sure what caused it, but after several months it is gone now.

I am a long time reader and lurker, and this will be the FIRST time I have de-lurked!

This past year, my 5 year old presented with swollen lymphnodes. I felt just horrible because she had complained in passing about her armpits hurting for months until I noticed the very swollen one in her armpit. I did the same as Angie – freaked out, rushed her to the ped, thinking the dreaded “c” word.

Turns out: she was blood tested, and she had cat scratch disease! She had befriended some stray cats living in our large backyard, and sure enough, the blood work proved what the ped suspected. Apparently, it is one of the leading causes of swollen lymphnodes in children under 5.

So glad everything has turned out well!

I am so very very very grateful for that news. I have read your whole story already – and when I read today’s prayer request, I just hung my head and prayed, “Lord, please, no!” I was out tonight with friends and in the middle of it remembered that I needed to get home and see if there was any news on your blog. I’m so very grateful that is was not a dreadful report. Thank you for updating.

My son had cat scratch disease a while back. I remember thinking it was cancer or something horible. Who knew such a silly thing could create such big responses from our body.

Praise our God that this was not your journey to walk….our 10 year old daughter WAS just diagnosed on Feb. 17 with Lymphoma after a long and winding path to diagnosis. I have been reading your blog for years, and you inspire me. We are being carried by God’s grace through this journey of Lymphoma, but he is with us every step. I have started blog to chronicle her story and point to the awe inspiring power and love of our Lord. http://www.emmakaitstanphill.blogspot.com. Blessings Angie, to you and yours. -Rebecca

I am so happy to hear that she is ok. Last year my 9 yr old son found lumps under his armpit and also a lump on the base of his neck, it scared us so much. Took him to the doctor and they said they just thought he was fighting some kind of infection in his body. He had blood tests and all came back normal. They but him on strong antibiotics. Within two months they had came back down to normal size. I still check all the time now to make sure they havn’t came back.
