Audrey, blossom

When we decided to move, it was a given that the house contract would have to include a few provisions.

In particular, there were two trees that we would take with us.

We waited until fall to move them because we were told that was the best chance of a successful re-planting.

And up until a few days ago, we held our breath, sneaking a peek out the windows every so often.

Wondering if it would bloom in its new home.

So imagine our joy when we saw this…

Today would have been Audrey’s third birthday, and we are celebrating her as we continue to watch her bloom in the unlikeliest places. We love you, precious girl.

Happy Birthday Audrey! It never ceases to amaze me how God allows each of us to bloom right where He plants us. Even more amazing is that He allows us to bloom right when He wants us to and when it will have a great impact on others.

How special. I smiled when I saw this post. Little Audrey touched so many lives. She has moved me in such a great way.

My husband and I just bought a pink Dogwood to plant in honor of our daughter, Maddie Grace. She passed away at 2 days old, just 3 months ago. We miss her so…

I love to read your heart. You are a special person. Thank you for sharing your little girl with us. I never knew it at the time, that I would be walking a road similar to yours. But, I’m so thankful that the same faith I saw back then is still strong today. You are such a blessing and pillar of strength to me. God is good.

    Happy 3rd Birthday Audrey!

    Much Love,

My friend just lost her father and I was shopping this morning for a tree for her to plant in memorium from our bible study group. I was standing in the middle of the nursery just thinking about how meaningful it is to see something grow and live year after year in remembrance and how your friends gave you the japanese maple after Audrey’s passing. I wondered how you felt about moving without it. Then, I came home and read your post. God is good, and works in mysterious way.

Grace to you and your family today.

I love the beautiful blossoms for y’all and Audrey to share. I FINALLY read your book last night. I waited a little while to read it because I had a miscarriage last year at age 40 and it just about did me in. I read the Psalms hundreds of times and cried out to Him over and over. When I found out that our baby had died inside of me I got a letter in the mailbox that same afternoon. It was from one of the children I sponsor through Compassion, named Emmanuel. he wrote, “The LORD will replace everything that you have lost.” I knew then the God used a little boy in Africa to tell me that He loved me and was weeping with me. God is so amazing.

I love that you have a special Spring Tree for your baby girl. I do as well, the dogwood tree and pink tulips. When we moved to our house about 9 years ago we wanted a house with a dogwood tree in memory of Grace and God’s love that carried us and continues to. I was sad when we moved thinking there wasn’t a dogwood tree. Then that Spring – surprise – a dogwood in the front!! I had no idea!! Plus many other surprises God gave me as a special I love you in our yard.

I’ve just begun reading your book and was in tears before getting to chapter 2! :) Today, as I read the journey of the day sweet Audrey was born and went to be with Jesus, my heart cried out and my tears poured down. I put your book down for a second to wipe away my tears and I heard my 3 year old daughter (who was born with a rare leg condition in both her legs and wears a right prosthetic leg) in her bedroom singing to her own tune “God loves children. God loves children. God loves children.” Well she pronounced it “God loves child-a-ren” :) I couldn’t help but smile and filled with joy as my sweet daughter proclaimed God’s truth of His love for children….and how timely was the procalmation!

Thank you so much for sharing your journey….through pain and joy. You are a blessing. Press on.

    Much love,

The tree is beautiful. How cool is it that it is in bloom on her birth date. A gift from the Lord…

“…we continue to watch her bloom in the unlikeliest places.” God is so good to send these blooms, to bring the beauty from the ashes. Love.

Precious. Absolutely precious. Our Chloe went to be with Jesus in May of 2006. Her name actually means, “blossoming” and we too have seen God’s work bloom through her brief life. What an amazing privilege to be a Mommy to such a special baby. Celebrating Audrey’s legacy with you, Sister.

I love reading your site. You are a wonderful writer, loving Mom and have such a sweet soul. The trees blooming are definitely a sign from Audrey. My son Daniel would have been 21 this coming July. I don’t have the heart wrenching sadness that accompanies the first few years after a child’s death, but his birthday is bittersweet. I like to think that all the “angel babies” are surrounding Jesus as each new precious soul enters into heaven.

Remembering precious Audrey with you. Her story was a big part of my healing from loss. I’ll always be grateful to you for sharing it with me. The cherry blossoms are beautiful. I get choked up when I think of all the ways God show us He cares

I stoped by your blog some time back and was taken aback by the smiles in the pictures with your baby Audry…finally several months later I have now seen a few youtube videos about your walk with Christ, not just yours but yours and your husbands (“yours”), through the process.  It was touching to see the two of you pull together and to hear where the smiles were truly from, the Father.  Beautiful.  So glad your tree bloomed as a smiple yet amazing reminder of that life changing moment in your life as a family.  Thanks for sharing this story with the world.  I hope all is well with you and your family and that you continue to grow in Him.  I see you have a lot of comments here and that you have several fallowers, I wanted to let you know that your story has also touched my heart and wanted to thank you for sharing it.  Sincerely, Mommy of two little blessings & so much more!

I was just given a copy of your book – almost 4 months after losing our baby girl, Amaris Joy, suddenly at 15 weeks.  I haven’t read all the way through the book yet but want to thank you so much for sharing your story – for sharing the very real pain – the pain and sorrow that is just so great, even knowing that we have a loving God who is in complete control, working what is BEST.  This is the second of 4 babies that we have lost – and I am learning so much about what it means to grieve, taking one day at a time, thanking God for His hand in our lives.

Thank you for writing to those who might know someone who has lost a baby.  Sometimes, the most well intended words can cause the most pain, even from other mothers trying to compare losses or something.  However, on the other side, those who have offered the most comfort, who have truly come alongside in the grief – those who have truly been a blessing – are those who we’ve least expected it from.  And, in this, we praise God for HIS care!

Thank you, again, for your honesty in acknowledging the pain, the constant crying out to God to be able to make it through the next moment, the seemingly endless tears – for your honesty in how HARD the struggle is BUT how it is STILL all about magnifying God and giving HIM glory.  How it is possible… yet to praise Him.
