I LOVE the JESUS STORYBOOK BIBLE!  As a mother who values dicsipling my son I am often looking for resources for him and for me as a way to keep pointing him to Jesus.

I love the Focus on the Family Tool Chest Night books. They offer fun activities for kids that drive home Biblical principals at a level that kids will understand & remember! For instance, the concept of believing in a God that can’t be seen is illustrated by blowing up a balloon & then letting all the air out & asking the kids where the air went. It’s backed up by Bible verses, too.

I don’t have kids but we are in the middle of an adoption. Also, we have 2 seeds cds and my husband and I LOVE them–no kids required!! I have also spent some quality time with the kids at church and the Jesus storybook Bible. It’s Jesus-centered but age appropriate. Completely love it.  Oh and the little people ark and nativity are pretty awesome!

  • Reply Anonymous February 17, 2012 at 8:53 pm

How exciting!  I can’t name just one thing. We used a children’s catechism and a great deal of Donut Man tapes when our oldest two were young. We also used a series of bible curriculum called Suffer Little Children and Show Me Thy Ways by Reformed Free Press which is very in depth.  They also participated in Bible Drill and our youngest is in Awana now.

(My daughter and her husband have a toddler and love the advice in “Raising Godly Tomatoes” although I haven’t read it.)

But, we recently discovered another children’s Bible that we love called “The Gospel Story Bible: Discovering Jesus in the Old and New Testaments.” We used this Bible extensively during the Advent season with our Jesse tree devotions and it was captivating for all of our children, who range in age from 18 on down to 6. Now I have 2 go-to Bibles to choose from for new mom gifts.  🙂

  • Reply Melissa February 19, 2012 at 7:21 am

We love The Jesus Storybook Bible, too.  Also, my son always requests KLOVE radio station when we’re in the car.  And if it’s not that, it’s Seeds of Faith.  We’d love to build our collection!!

  • Reply Gardenkate February 19, 2012 at 11:00 am

One of our favorites is simply our VBS music.

  • Reply Michelle Hopp February 19, 2012 at 3:56 pm

Jesus Storybook Bible (which now offers a full curriculum–woo hoo!), catechism books, and a sweet little gem of a book called “Leading Little Ones to God”.  It’s an oldie but goodie.  LOVE Seeds, too.  It’s been so helpful for me personally as well as for my kiddos 🙂

    • Reply MelissaG February 19, 2012 at 11:11 pm

Yes, “Leading Little Ones to God” is a great one I forgot to mention in mine…we’ve really liked it!

  • Reply ktokar February 19, 2012 at 6:00 pm

I’m the same. We’ve tried little books, but the girls are old enough (5 and 8) to understand his word. So the bible is our best resource, both for our kids and us!

  • Reply valerie February 19, 2012 at 6:55 pm

The Jesus Storybook Bible! We love it:) Also good for this momma to learn from.

  • Reply Amy S February 19, 2012 at 7:01 pm

I like the Day by Day Bible, but honestly, The Bible is by far the greatest resource.    My kids are older now, but they LOVED to watch the Cedermont Kids videos when they were younger………nothing quite like hearing your little one singing about Jesus all the time 🙂

  • Reply Iteachmusic February 19, 2012 at 7:05 pm

    The Jesus Storybook Bible!!

  • Reply Anonymous February 19, 2012 at 7:34 pm

Josh McDowell’s Family Devotions =) It is an older devotional, but still applicable.

  • Reply Megan Seager February 19, 2012 at 8:01 pm

We love the Word and Song Bible which has a story from each of the 66 books of the Bible, and has a narrated CD that goes along with it.

I don’t have resources at the moment. As a new mommy our big things are singing and praying. I am interested to see what others have to say! Thanks!

We are in the process of adoption (no kids quite yet!), but I am a music therapist and KNOW I will use music all the time with my children. I would love, love, love this cd!

God’s Word and book entitled Don’t Make Me Count to Three 🙂

  • Reply Andrea February 19, 2012 at 10:42 pm

Would LOVE a Seeds Family Worship CD!  A Children’s Bible is a must for us. We love the Jesus Storybook Bible. Also, it sounds silly, but I go to the Seeds website and often play their music right there from the site for the children. Even if we can’t afford to get their CD’s, I’m grateful that Seeds puts some of their resources out there to bless families in that way. Lastly, written scripture around the house is a great resource for the children.

  • Reply Jill A February 19, 2012 at 11:08 pm

Our 4-year-old loves her Beginner’s Bible – partially because it was given to her by her Sunday School teacher and partially because of the fun pictures. AND we love Seeds Worship CDs at our house!

The Jesus Storybook Bible…our adopted daughter from the Ukraine loves it!!

  • Reply MelissaG February 19, 2012 at 11:10 pm

The Bible would of course be my first and favorite choice.  There are many others that have helped me “Don’t Make Me Count To Three”  “Raising Godly Tomatoes” “Shepherding a Child’s Heart”  and more that I’m blanking on!

  • Reply Bruckerfamily February 19, 2012 at 11:49 pm

  • Reply Stephanie Blackiston February 19, 2012 at 11:54 pm

Oh, a must for my boys is their Comic Bible and a must for a resource for parents is “Guarding your child’s Heart” DVD series by Gary Smalley.

  • Reply Spokaneshannon3 February 20, 2012 at 12:27 am

A friend of mine recommended the God’s Design for Sex series to me.  I used it with my kids to supplement what they were learning in school (which I approved of after attending the preview for parents nights.)  I recommend it to all my friends who are looking for a starting place to discuss sex education with their kids from a biblical view.

Having one child in middle school now and two more right behind them, I would love a chance ot win the Passport to Purity Series.  I’ve heard many good things about it.

Seeds worship, Loving the Little Years by Rachel Jankovic, Raising Godly Tomatoes, Jesus Storybook Bible, and most importantly, the Holy Spirit! Each of my 4 daughters is so unique and requires a slightly (and sometimes dramatically) different approach. Praise God for his Holy Spirit to help me parent them well.

  • Reply Bevmaunus February 21, 2012 at 10:09 am

We must hide God’s word in our heart that we might not sin against him and this is such a great way.
