Compassion International, Peru 2012

Most of you who read this blog know that I’m a huge supporter of Compassion International. I had the opportunity to travel with them to India a few years ago and see a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff, which made me fall more in love with their heartbeat and mission.

Shaun Groves has asked me to travel a few more times, but it just hasn’t worked out. Recently he let me know there was going to be a trip to Peru in November, but as much as I wanted to do it, it was in between my WOF tour and Todd’s Christmas tour and I didn’t want to be away any more than I needed to. I declined the offer but it nagged at me for the next several days.

Todd and I prayed about it and really both felt like the Lord was clear with what He desired.

So I let Shaun know that I would go, but there was one itsy-bitsy stipulation…

Let’s just say that they made a big exception, and Abby and Ellie are going to have a very hands-on “field trip” this school year 🙂

It isn’t until November, but I covet your prayers for us. Of course I will keep you all updated as I learn more, but wanted to let you know it was going to happen.

Y’all know I’m not a big fan of flying, being away from home, or much outside of my comfort zone..

But for the kids that could be impacted by this trip? Worth every second.

Thank you in advance for your prayers-not just for my family but for the kiddos whose lives will be changed through the work of Compassion.

That’s awesome! May God bless the journey, even now in preparation. It’s something God will use in their lives forever, beginning already! Some of the best moments on our mission trips are when parents and their kids/teens are able to serve/travel/give to others side by side. Such a blessing!

Beautiful… I know it will be a God-breathed experience for your girls, and for you to witness them experience it too. Can’t wait to read about it when I get home, wish I could read about it in real-time.

I’ll be traveling to Haiti with my 11 year old daughter Jillian that very same week (along with my bestie!), to meet Jillian’s Compassion child and do mission work in the region where her Compassion child lives. We’re doing it completely by blind faith — can’t really make concrete plans in Haiti, can’t book in-country travel or accomodations or anything of the sort where we’re going… and given my daughter’s special needs, it will be interesting to see how God decides to meet us there and where He’ll place us.

Can’t wait to see how you will bring this place and it’s need to life for us with your words, Ange. I’m so excited for Abby and Ellie!! I’ve told Adam that if I ever get to go on one of these trips, I’m taking Troy with us. Praying for you already xx

My first missions trip was to Peru with my 13 yr old daughter. I never knew until then that I could love a people group outside of my own family! It was life-changing for us both!! Praying for you all as you go!

Love you Angie and love your heart. I will be praying for your trip with the girls in November. It will be such a blessing and lifetime opportunity for them to see your heart in action and have theirs impacted too. Nothing but Blessings is what I am praying for.

Do you still sponsor Sangita and Mohit? How are they doing, and how have the letters changed since your trip to India?

  • Reply sheila August 27, 2012 at 2:32 pm

Wow, that is wonderful. Praying their hearts will see what God wants them to and protect at the same time, if that makes sense. On such a smaller scale, I am taking my 12 yr daughter to NYC for a service project in Nov. Would appreciate prayers for the very same (open her eyes & heart, while protecting her at the same time.
Now, imagine my surprise when I was ordering Lysa T. new book and up your’s appears. I had to re-read it three times and check the date, how did I miss that. You, my friend, are humble in everyway. I am so excited to read it. Congrats and I absolutely love how you allow God to flow through you all the while giving Him the glory. God continue to use you and bless you. In God’s Love, sheila

That sounds wonderful!! My husband just went on a Mission Trip to Peru this year and can’t wait to return. Hoping I can join him next time if we have can arrange care for our 3 boys. And just yesterday at church Compassion International was there and we decided to sponsor a boy from Peru! I passed up the chance to do so at Women of Faith because I wanted my whole family to be a part of it. Praying one day we can all go there so they can meet their Peruvian “brother”. Congrats on this wonderful opportunity! Praying you feel peace about the upcoming adventure!
